More than seven in ten of the world’s dollar millionaires have invested in cryptocurrencies, a new report claims. A survey of 2,900 high net wealth individuals in 26 countries — defined as those holding investable assets of at least $1 million — found 72 per cent had invested in the digital assets.
The world wealth report, published by Capgemini, the French technology consultancy, highlighted the growing uptake of digital currencies. “It will be important for investors and firms to also account for more high-impact price volatility in these currencies,” it added
The price of Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, went over $60,000 to hit a record this spring, fuelled by signs of a shift from the fringes of global finance to the mainstream.
